'Not giving a fuck' would be nihilism, no?

Nihilism would be believing that giving a fuck (or not giving a fuck for that matter) is pointless.

No, nihilism is the belief that the only thing worth giving a fuck about is power and applying it in your rational self interest.

For a nihilist, there is simply no interesting difference between giving a fuck and not giving a fuck.

So when you see a nihilist who gives a fuck you should not be surprised. To have a piece of gum stuck in your pubic hair is irritating no matter what.

Anyone who tries to convince you to give a fuck about anything except acquiring and deploying power in your rational self interest is trying to dominate you.

Obviously, all of this is true, but if Obsidian had needed to develop FONV from scratch, they'd probably not have been able to do it. FO3 was what it needed to be to make it across the finish line, and FONV was enabled to be what it was by that success. No game developer has infinite resources, and where you have to devote resources to making the game engine, you necessarily lose resources to devote to story development. Therefore, although of course NV is more complex and impressive story-wise, 3 should rightly get a lot of credit for laying the foundation for it.

What I was going to say. New Vegas is good because of Fallout 3 not despite it.
