The problem is that usual Englishman just wouldn't understand you if you speak this way. But for Russian people this seems quite normal and understandable
For example the phrase "rain pour like from a bucket" they tell "it rains cats and dogs".
Actually, this phrase is a good example of English idiom but it is used in England really seldom. It would be better to say that there is quite heavy rain outside or something like that
